Manchester City don’t have too many injury concerns as Crystal Palace and the Club World Cup both loom. They currently have three players out injured, namely Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne and Jeremy Doku.
Whilst these three are arguably the three most important attacking assets for Pep Guarliola, their absence hasn’t affected Man City much. This just shows the depth and flexibility of the squad at Pep’s disposal.
Hopefully, the day we see Manchester City’s attacking prowess at full potential isn’t to far away as there are positive updates for all three players.
Haaland’s return from injury will be a massive boost for Manchester City
Haaland missed the last two games due to a foot injury. He still looks doubtful for the weekend’s game against Crystal Palace, but could be ready for the midweek Club World Cup fixture. However, Guardiola was a bit skeptical about the Norwegian’s return.
“He will be back on Thursday, I think. We will see how he feels,” Guardiola said. “I don’t know right now (when he will be back) but the next press conference I could be more precise.”
Belgian duo also close to returning
Kevin de Bruyne has been out since City’s first game of the season back in August. It was a serious hamstring injury and he had to go through a surgery. However, Pep confirmed last week that De Bruyne had started running again outside on the grass.
On KDB’s chances of playing at the forthcoming Club World Cup, Guardiola said: “Maybe it’s a bit early, but I don’t know.”
Jeremy Doku on the other hand, missed the last 3 Manchester City games due to a muscle injury. Pep confirmed that it wasn’t a serious injury but he won’t take any risks. Pep further said: “We have to be careful. I don’t know when he will be ready, maybe one week or two weeks he will be ready again.”
