Mikel Arteta has backed Frank Lampard to stay at Chelsea amidst rumors of the club sacking him as per Sports Mole. The Arsenal manager believes that Lampard should be given more time to get his club back to the top.
The Blues have lost five of their last ten matches and were unbeaten in the first few initial matches. The club is currently struggling at 8th place in the Premier League standings.
ARTETA CLAIMS LAMPARD NEEDS MORE TIME
Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard had almost the same start to the 2020-21 PL season. The former although, had won more titles than the latter since his appointment as Arsenal coach.
However, both their teams are struggling in the Premier League. As compared to Arteta, it seemed that Lampard was a better coach after the Blues were unbeaten for 17 matches initially.
The 42-year-old former midfielder was enjoying his time and suddenly came the downfall after the 3-1 loss against The Gooners.
Arteta also faced the certainty of being sacked especially during this tough pandemic period and believes that it is a tough decision if the coaches are sacked.
“I have known Frank for a few years and I spent some time with him and I would like the club to support him and give him a chance. You need time, and something we have not had in this calendar year is time to work on anything.”
