Mohammedan Sporting Club are preparing for the I-League which is set to start next month. They are the only representative of Kolkata in the I-league. Mohammedan have signed two players from fellow city club SC East Bengal to strengthen their squad.
The Kolkata giants are still building their team. However, head coach Jose Hevia is happy with the players available to him. But he wants to improve the squad.
Mohammedan Sign Two Players from SC East Bengal:
SC East Bengal have been struggling in the Indian Super League. They are still winless and bottom in the league. Now, their head coach Robbie Fowler is not pleased with the Indian players’ performance for his team.
So, he has listed nine players to release from the team. This list includes Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Balwant Singh, CK Vineeth, Gurtej Singh, Rafique Ali Sardar, Samad Ali Mallick, Abhishek Ambekar, Mohammed Irshad, and Anil Chavan.
“So it is not me being nasty and vindictive it is what is best for the club. We are trying to get the best results for this club and we feel that some of the players who aren’t playing can go elsewhere and get games.”
– Robbie Fowler
Now, Hevia has signed two players for his side, defender Gurtej and goalkeeper Rafique already headed to Kolkata to join with the Black Panthers.
They may bring another player from the Red and Golds but haven’t approached anyone yet. The Spanish manager is also keen on improving his tactics and his players’ fitness.
“I think the boys are really working hard. I am extremely happy with the attitude, the commitment and the focus of the players at training. We are working hard to improve the tactics, fitness and psychological approach. Each day we grow stronger and are more united as a team”
– Jose Hevia
Conclusion:
Mohammedan SC will play in the I-League with high expectations. So they are improving their squad by bringing in quality young players. They also have experienced players like Priyant Singh, Tirthankar Sarkar, Satyam Sharma, Balwinder Singh.
On the other hand, East Bengal still haven’t found the rhythm. They are expecting to turn things around by changing a few of their players.
