Pep Guardiola gives hint about his future managerial plans

Pep Guardiola hinted on his plans for the future following the FIFA Club World Cup success with Manchester City. The Catalan manager won his 16th trophy with Man City in Jeddah on Friday. An emphatic 4-0 victory lead Manchester City to Club World Cup glory over Fluminense, saw Pep win every major trophy possible in his 8-year stint at the Etihad.

Pep signed a new deal in November 2023, tying him to Manchester City till the summer of 2025. After winning his latest silverware, the manager hinted that he could leave Manchester when the current deal expires.

Speaking after winning the Club World Cup, Pep said: “I would like to say we had the feeling we would close the chapter, we won all the titles, there’s nothing else to win, I had a feeling the job was done, it was over.

“Enzo [Maresca] helped us to win the treble. Mikel, all my staff, all the players from day one, Vincent to Kyle as captains; all players mentioned, Joao [Cancelo], Cole Palmer, Riyad, Ilkay, helped us to achieve something incredible to be here and to play this tournament. It’s most difficult to arrive here, once we are here it’s perform well.”

Eight years of incredible work

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola further said: “When I close the chapter it’s for eight years of incredible work behind the scenes. I had a feeling all the titles you can win we have done it. We got a lot of titles in Premier League, Carabao Cup, repeat a lot of trophies. It’s unbelievable what we have done. Today we celebrate on the plane, tomorrow rest.

“It’s a beautiful, beautiful day. I could never think when we arrived in Manchester we could do this and finish with the World Cup.”
