Real Madrid on the lookout for Dutch youngster Xavi Simons

Xavi Simons

Spanish outlet Fichajes reported that Real Madrid is interested in Xavi Simons. The La Liga champions are considering signing the Dutch wonderkid in the summer transfer window. However, Simons is expected to stay at PSV Eindhoven for the 2023/24 season.

After joining Barcelona from CD Thader Rojales, Xavi Simons spent most of his formative years with the club. However, Paris Saint-Germain signed him in 2019, and he didn’t complete his youth career at Camp Nou. The 19-year-old has made good progress at PSG.

Simons departed PSG for PSV Eindhoven last summer due to limited opportunities. The move has been a success, with the 19-year-old scoring 16 goals and providing eight assists in 38 games. His impressive form has attracted interest from several clubs, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid desperate for new signings

Real Madrid is expected to undergo a squad overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window. The team has fallen behind Barcelona and needs to strengthen various positions to compete for the La Liga title next season.

Carlo Ancelotti prefers versatile players in his squad, making Xavi Simons an appealing target. Simons is primarily an attacking midfielder and could potentially replace Modric. Moreover, he is capable of playing on the flanks, quite similar to Valverde.

Xavi Simons has become an attractive option due to his 16 goals in addition to his playmaking abilities. However, Real Madrid will face competition from some Premier League clubs for the 19-year-old. Despite this, Simons has expressed his contentment at PSV Eindhoven and has no intention of leaving the club anytime soon.

Signing Xavi Simons this summer will be a challenging task for Real Madrid and other suitors due to his recent form and his expressed contentment at PSV Eindhoven. However, it can be difficult to reject an approach from Los Blancos. It remains to be see if Real Madrid can convince the 16-goal Dutch wonderkid to join them in the coming months.
