Xavi Simons discusses his experience at PSG with Messi, Neymar and Mbappe

Xavi Simons is a product of the famous Barcelona academy, La Masia. The Dutch midfielder did not extend his contract with Barcelona and signed for Paris Saint-Germain in July 2019. Simons signed on a free transfer for a period of 3 years at the Parc Des Princes.

The Dutch midfielder has recently ended his association with the Parisians and signed on a free transfer for PSV Eindhoven. Simons was fortunate to have trained with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe in the last couple of seasons.

Xavi Simons speaks highly of the magical trio of PSG

The Dutch midfielder has claimed that moving to PSV Eindhoven was an important step in his development. Simons enjoyed a great learning experience in Paris, however, he had to make the switch in search of regular playing time.

The highly-rated midfielder in an interview with ESPN NL said about the magical trio:

“I trained with them every day for two years, learned a lot from them, but in the end, competitions are also important. I just turned nineteen, so I think I should now take that step to develop myself. That’s really incredible. I don’t think you’re ever going to see such a good team together again. Wonderful to sit with people you used to see on television, now together in the dressing room. Not everyone can say that. I am very grateful to them.”

Simons further said that:

“Although they won everything, they also showed every training why they are such stars. They always kept fighting for their place, which I found very special to see. I also learned a lot from them off the field.”

The young midfielder played his last game for PSG in May against Montpellier wherein he shared the pitch with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. The midfielder is rated highly across Europe and expected to develop into one of the best midfielder in the world.

Hopefully, this move to the Netherlands will help the midfielder get the much-needed playing time and help his development.
