Ronaldo’ 760th Goal Opens Debate Over Goal Record

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Cristiano Ronaldo‘ record of scoring 760 goals has opened debates over the scoring record after he scored against Napoli.

Ronaldo found the back of the net against Napoli in the Final of the Supercoppa Italiana. His 760th goal helped Juventus clinch their first trophy of the season under Pirlo’s leadership.

The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored 5 goals for Sporting Lisbon, 118 goals for Manchester United, 451 goals for Real Madrid, 84 goals for Juventus, and 102 goals for the Portuguese National Team.

DID RONALDO REALLY BREAK THE GOAL SCORING RECORD?

According to Skysports, the Czech Football Governing body released a statement saying that Josef Bican has scored 821 goals. This means that Ronaldo has to score 62 more goals in order to break the Czech’s record.

In a lengthy statement posted on the Czech Football Federation’s website. They claimed 821 is the “most accurate number possible” when it comes to counting how many goals Bican scored throughout his career.

Josef Bican‘s goals from matches in the League, National Cups, the Central European Cup, and the National team are included. On the contrary, friendly matches are not included in the statistics, with the exception of the National Team.

Despite the Czech FA‘s statement it is yet to be ascertained by FIFA whether he actually scored 821 goals or not. And if the claim the Czech body has made is true. Then the 34-year-old Portuguese Tlisman will have to score 62 more goals in order to break the all-time goal-scoring record.
