Three possible replacements for Pochettino as his future at Chelsea becomes uncertain

Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea currently sit 10th in the Premier League after 13 fixtures – winning just four of those. This has clearly left the fans unhappy. The fans have been discussing the sacking of Pochettino, but those calls are still premature.

The Blue’s inconsistancy is what is fueling these discussions. Some fans are concerned about the direction of the club under Pochettino following another huge spending spree in the summer. Todd Boehly spent over £350 million on transfers this summer alone. Moreover, he has spent over £1 billion on the senior squad since his takeover in 2022.

Pochettino staying at least for now

The most concerning sign under Pochettino came last weekend as Chelsea were hammered 4-1 by a depleted Newcastle side at St. James’ Park.

In a news which may disappoint a select few, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are set to continue backing Pochettino as he said on his YouTube channel: “The feedback is still the same on Chelsea’s side, and they trust Mauricio Pochettino. They believe he is the right man for this project.

“It’s a young team, and they need time. His job is not at risk at this point.”

Possible replacements for Pochettino at Chelsea

However, it cannot be disregarded that there are some top managers currently available to bring in if results do not begin to consistently improve. We have taken a look at three available coaches that could be a good fit for Chelsea.

  1. Hansi Flick : Flick enjoyed plenty of success in Germany with Bayern Munich, leadind them to a UCL title in 2020, among other titles. The German head coach was recently sacked as the Germany manager and could make a return to club football. Flick would bring a winning mentality to Chelsea backed up by his impressive honours list.
  2. Antonio Conte : Conte has won the Premier League with Chelsea back in 2016/17. He is a proven manager, winning multiple league titles in England and Italy. His main issue has always been that he demands a huge budget from the club to build his team, and if there is any club who can meet his demands right now, its Chelsea.
  3. Julen Lopetegui : Lopetegui has been available since August after departing his position at Wolves. The Spaniard has won the Europa League with Sevilla, along with the European Under-19 Championship and European Under-21 Championship with Spain. He managed to lead Wolves to 13th in the Premier League, just three points behind Chelsea, last season – and he would be a strong candidate if Pochettino was sacked.
