East Bengal has found their rhythm in the ongoing Calcutta Football League (CFL) and at the top of group B. Though the scenario was not the same after the first match. The draw against ASOS Rainbow made the fans worry about the team’s performance.
Besides, the injuries of Athul Unnikrishnan and Aditya Patra gave the management a huge blow after the first match. Senior team head coach Carles Cuadrat asked his assistant, Bino George, to use fewer senior team players. Keeping in mind the upcoming long football season, Bino did not include any senior footballers other than Sarthak in their next match against WB Police.
Reasons behind including five senior players for the Calcutta Football League:
Though East Bengal managed to win against WB Police, their performance was not up to mark. Comparatively, the West Bengal Police was a little weaker than the East Bengal side. But EB conceded two goals in that CFL match.
Bino was unsatisfied with the score line of 4-2 due to multiple mistakes in the defensive third. The defensive organization has been a matter of concern for the Red and Gold management.
Moreover, the excellent performance of the archrivals made the management to rethink their decision. Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan have been so fluent with their performances. They are performing matches after matches where East Bengal is struggling to play a good brand of football.
Thinking about all the possibilities, Bino George requested the management to allow the inclusion of some senior footballers.
East Bengal II coach Bino Gearge admitted that Calcutta Football League side Kidderpore SC is experienced with quality players like Priyant Singh and Tirthankar Sarkar. To get all three points, Bino planned to include some seniors to guide his young squad.
East Bengal registered five senior team footballers for the Calcutta Football League:
East Bengal registered Sarthak Golui, Md. Rakip, Tuhin Das, Souvik Chakrabarti, and Gursimrat Singh Gill for the Calcutta Football League: . Sarthak was unavailable for the Kidderpore match due to card problem.
Basically, Bino planned to outwit Kidderpore with the combination of senior and junior. To win the match with complete dominance and get back the momentum, Bino left no stone unturned.
Result of this decision:
As a result, East Bengal defeated Kidderpore by 2-0. The Bangal Brigade found their missing rhythm and dominated the game with 58% ball possession. With two spectacular goals by Tuhin Das and Shyamal Besra, East Bengal got all three points.
With the experience of senior footballers, East Bengal tasted their second victory on the trot in the Calcutta Football League.
