AC Milan boosted by James Rodriguez news

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

AC Milan will be happy after the news coming from England. Their midfield target James Rodriguez is no more part of the plans for his current club Everton.

The Daily Mail reports that the new Everton boss Rafael Benitez does not have Rodriguez in his plan for the team. As a result, the club is willing to let go of the Columbian this summer. AC Milan has been a long term admirer of Rodriguez.

News is also coming that Rodriguez is open for a pay cut if he can get a move to Milan. The future of Rodriguez has become uncertain especially after his former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti moved back to Real Madrid. Apart from AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, FC Porto and Napoli are also interested in signing the 30-year-old.

MILAN COULD FINALLY LAND RODRIGUEZ

AC Milan has shown interest in James Rodriguez during his Real Madrid days. However, the midfielder made a surprise move to Premier League side Everton to join with Carlo Ancelotti. Things fall apart for Rodriguez, as the Italian was appointed the manager of Real Madrid at the end of last season.

Rodriguez made his name in the 2014 FIFA World Cup for Columbia. He was the top scorer of the tournament which earned him his big-money move to Real Madrid. In Spain, the player was not fully trusted by manager Zinedine Zidane and was sent on loan to Bayern Munich and finally moved to Everton.

Milan are in the market for an attacking midfielder after Hakan Calhanoglu moved away to rivals Inter. Even with injury concerns, Rodriguez is a quality player who can fit this role. If they can land the Columbian it would be another good signing to close their excellent transfer window.

However, the Rossoneri will have to act fast. Rodriguez only has a year left in his contract with Everton. So the club is in a hurry to sell him this summer and is looking to offer him to other sides in Europe.
