According to Marca, AC Milan are keen to avail the services of the Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo for next season. It is reported that the Rossoneri have tabled a loan offer for the Dominic born.
Firpo was signed by the Catalans in 2019 from their league rivals Real Betis. Barcelona paid almost 20 million for landing the left-back. The Spaniard was brought in as Ernesto Valverde’s signing from Real Betis as a long-term replacement for Jordi Alba.
However, Firpo has failed to compete with long-time left-back and lacked game time over the two seasons. He might have got his chances to perform under Valverde. But after Barcelona replaced him with Ronald Koeman it has not been the same for the youngster. The Dutch manager preferred to use Alba as the left-back, rather than testing the potential of Firpo.
Till now, Firpo has managed to appear only 45 times for Barcelona in two seasons. And in his 45 appearances, he only scored 2 goals and was able to set up 1 goal in all competitions. Following his poor performances and lack of confidence from his coach, it is clear that he is not in the plan for the next season.
Barcelona have already named him on a long list who are available for transfer this summer. The Catalans have also received some offers for the youngster but most of them are loan deals. And one of the clubs that have offered a loan deal for Firpo is AC Milan. However, West Ham United and Southampton have also offered a good transfer deal for the Spaniard.
AC Milan looks forward to avail the services of Junior Firpo
AC Milan had a good season this year, as they were available to secure a Champions League spot after 8 years. The Rossoneri went to win against Atlanta in their last matchday which helped them to finish second in the league table.
And now, Stefano Pioli is looking to strengthen his team for a great comeback in Champions League competition. For the starter he is looking into the left-back position, which is secured by Theo Hernandez. The Italian coach is looking to bring a competition for Hernandez, and for which he has targeted to bring Junior Firpo for next season.
Milan tried to bring the Spaniard earlier in January transfer window, but the deal failed due to some reasons. However, the Rossoneri are again back to sign Firpo. It is reported that Milan have offered a loan deal to sign the Spaniard from Barcelona.
But there has been some negotiations with Barcelona, as they want to cash in the player immediately or add a buy option at the end of the loan deal. These terms have created an obstacle for AC Milan as they only want to loan the player for one year.
Anyway, if the Rossoneri wants to secure the services of Firpo then they must hurry to negotiate and complete the deal. As West Ham United and Southampton have offered to sign the player by giving in immediate cash to Barcelona.
However, it is clear that Firpo is set to leave Barcelona next season after failing to be a part of their plan. While Firpo is also looking to earn some game time for another club next season. So, let’s wait where the Spaniard lands himself next season in Italy or England.
