AC Milan to defy the odds and defend the Serie A title

Pioli

AC Milan are one of the best clubs in Italy at the moment. The Italians look set to defend their Serie A title. The squad looks a lot more complete, with the additions that they have brought in the summer. Milan beat their capital rivals last season by 3 points. Paolo Maldini played a big hand in bolstering this Milan side to take the next step in Europe. The legendary defender feels that Milan have to step up and make more signings if they want to retain the Serie A title. Because of this, the Italian Champions looked to find more solutions even on the deadline day of the window.

The club has brought in key players like Divock Origi, De Ketelaere, and Malick Thiaw. But it is evident that only these signings will not be enough if Milan wants to retain the title. Moreover, they are also eyeing European success this season as the past ones were failures. Bakayoko was linked but will most probably end up joining OGC Nice. One signing that was needed and is now official is Sergino Dest from Barcelona. The Barcelona man joins Milan on a 1-year loan deal with an option to buy. This pretty much solves their right-back dilemma.

Fikayo Tomori also signed an extension with Milan. So did Zlatan Ibrahimovic who will have the option to leave in 2023. But looking at the Milan side, it feels that there are a lot of positions where improvements should be made. Deadline day will not bring any superstar signings but can improve squad depth. With the FIFA WC, this year and European competitions also starting soon, having a big squad is very important. Looking at how Inter Milan and Juventus have strengthened themselves, it will be a great title race in Serie A.

Milan to face competition from Barcelona for Kiwior

One of the players that Milan have set their eyes on is Polish international Kiwior. The CB is a hot prospect in world football and has attracted various top clubs. Still only 22, it would not be long before he starts to play for a world-class club. Milan have certainly offered Kiwior the conditions for immense growth and skyrocketing his career.

But all is easier said than done. Kiwior’s international teammate and Captain Robert Lewandowski is reportedly trying to convince Barcelona management of the CB. Milan are very closely following the player who is currently valued at €16m. It would not be easy if Barcelona comes into the race as the likes of Chelsea suffered at their hands. But it would be an interesting competition to see for the neutrals.
