FIFA rated India101 after winning an international event in Imphal last month. Which also included Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan and was held under the FIFA timeframe.

“Wins over Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan in the tournament helped India boost their FIFA ranking. While Manipur as a State bared its heart for the beautiful game,” Mr. Chaubey remarked in the current Vision 2047 newsletter from the AIFF.

“Now ranked 101, our next focus is to break the 100 mark and rise further. For that, we will strive and move forward,” he continued.

Mr. Chaubey was effusive in his praise for Manipur’s football supporters and officials. For “embracing” international football so enthusiastically during the tri-nation competition.

“India’s football factory Manipur embraced international football in style … the Blue Tigers went on to win the tri-nation tournament,” remarked the AIFF president.

“The Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal wore a festive look and was packed with over 30,000 roaring fans much before the kick off of the opening match.” Manipur has seven players on the Indian team for the tri-nation event.

Mr. Chaubey stated that the AIFF has inked a MOU with the Manipur government to develop world-class facilities in the state.
