Antonio Rudiger is closing on joining Real Madrid as a Free Agent. The German Centre-back’s contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of this season. Meanwhile, the Blues have failed to reach an agreement with Rudiger for extending his contract to stay at the Club. The London outfit is keen on making Rudiger stay at Stamford Bridge, as the Blues believe that he is still an influential figure in the team.

According to reports, Antonio Rudiger is edging closer towards a move to the La Liga Giants. The Los Blancos are also looking to bring him at the club next summer to strengthen their Defensive ranks. Real Madrid are currently in sensational form as they sit on top of the La Liga points table. They have a good mix of Youth and Experience in their Squad, who are currently in a Good shape under Carlo Ancelotti.

Real Madrid lost their Talismanic Defensive duo of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane for free during the summer of 2021. The Pairing of Ramos and Varane in the Real Madrid defence brought a lot of silverware at Santiago Bernabeau. The Pairing helped Madrid to win 3 consecutive UEFA Champions League trophies in a row, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18. In total the duo won 3 La Liga Trophies, 4 UCL Titles, 4 FIFA Club World Cups, 3 Super Cups, 2 Copa Del Reys and 4 Spanish Super Cups. Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger also won the UCL earlier this May with Chelsea.

Current Premier League Standings

Antonio Rudiger and Real Madrid have reached an informal agreement for a potential move next summer

According to the Independent, Rudiger’s Brother/Agent, Sahr Senesie sat down with the representatives of Los Blancos. Meetings between the two sides have been Fruitful, as an ‘informal agreement’ for the German has been reached. Reports have also suggested that Premier Clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race for the 28-year-old. However, a move to the 13-times UEFA Champions League winners seems more likely for Antonio Rudiger.

Chelsea have been solid since Thomas Tuchel joined as their Head Coach. He gave Antonio Rudiger a fresh start at the club last season and the 28-year-old did not fail to capitalize. The Blues had an amazing Defensive record last season and also won UEFA Champions League by defeating Manchester City in the Final. Meanwhile, the Blues are one of the Favorites to win the Premier League this season, alongside Liverpool and City.

Rudiger is believed to be asking for an annual salary of €12m (£10.2m) to remain at Chelsea. He has made 20 appearances across all competitions for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season, registering two goals and two assists.
