Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger will leave the club for free at the end of this season stats Thomas Tuchel and the German is reportedly set to join Spanish giants Real Madrid

The Blues boss Thomas Tuchel earlier stated that Rudiger will leave the club following the conclusion of this season. The defending European Champions are currently unable to agree on any transfers or offer a new contract due to government sanctions. 

Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta are among the key members of the squad whose current contract will expire at the end of this season. However, the Blues won’t be able to offer a new contract to them unless the club’s ownership issue gets resolved. 

So, while the Denmark defender has already agreed to join La Liga giants Barcelona. The German will be joining the Blaugrana’s arch-rival Real Madrid. 

Fabrizio Romano earlier reported that Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are also linked with a move to the Camp Nou Stadium. Therefore, the Blues’ new owner will have to make a wholesome change at the back this summer. 

Can Thomas Tuchel find success without Antonio Rudiger? 

Antonio Rudiger has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at Stamford Bridge. However, it will be tough for the Blues to find a replacement for the German. 

Jules Kounde has been mentioned as one of the targets for the Chelsea boss. However, the Frenchman is a different type of player to the 29-year-old. Meanwhile, the world champions will be looking for a squad overhaul in the summer. 

While they need to renovate their defence in the summer transfer window. They will also have to make some changes at the forward line. Spending over £100 million on Romelu Lukaku has turned out to be a big mistake by the German boss. Therefore, they will be looking to reinforce their attacking department as well.
