Arindam Bhattacharya joins Inter Kashi FC

Inter Kashi FC have signed goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya as their goalkeeper for the upcoming 2023-24 I-League season. The Varanasi-based club will make its debut in the I-League. The 33-year-old goalkeeper has played for several I-League clubs like Churchill Brothers FC, Mohun Bagan AC, Bharat FC, and Sporting Club de Goa. He also has plenty of experience with ISL clubs like Pune City FC, Mumbai City FC, Bengaluru FC, ATK FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, SC East Bengal and Northeast United FC.

Arindam Bhattacharya: Player Profile

Arindam played football for Surya Sen Sporting Club, he then joined Sports Authority of India (SAI) senior team in 2006 where he stayed for 2 years before joining Churchill Brothers. He won the Hero I-League with the club in 2008-09 season. He moved to Mohun Bagan in the 2012–13 season and again returned to Churchill Brothers to win the Federation Cup in 2014.

Bhattacharya then joined FC Pune City from 2014 to 2017 for three seasons. He made his debut for the club against Kerala Blasters at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune. Afterwards he switched to Mumbai City for the 2017–18 season. In 2018, Arindam Bhattacharya joined ATK who were two-time Indian Super League winners. He proved himself as the first-choice goalkeeper, playing every game in that season. In the 2020 season, Arindam kept 10 clean sheets and was awarded the Golden Gloves. In October 2020, Bhattacharya extended his contract with ATK Mohun Bagan till 2022.

After mutually agreeing to terminate the contract in the following season, Arindam joined East Bengal. In the next season, he joined Northeast United.

International Career

The then coach Stephen Constatine called up Arindam Bhattacharya for the Indian U-19 team after his performance in the Subroto Cup. He made his debut for Indian U-23 team against Afghanistan in the SAFF Championship 2009. He also made 5 appearances for the senior team afterwards.

Inter Kashi under coach Carlos Santamaria will be aiming to qualify for the ISL through promotion.
