Arsenal is seriously looking to sign Renato Sanches. The Gunners have reportedly set their sights on the Portuguese Midfielder. The Premier League outfit under Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the player. The Spaniard wants to bring him to the Emirates Stadium possibly during the starting of 2022. The Club is all set to register the signature of the Portuguese. The former Bayern Munich man is on the radar of Serie A giants AC Milan as well.
The North London outfit will be missing Granit Xhaka for the rest of the year. The Swiss International injured his right knee during a Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur. Thomas Partey and Mohamed Eleny are set to miss Arsenal’s fixtures in January due to the Africa Cup of Nations. Therefore, Arsenal will look for other options in January.
Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta will look to find alternatives to bolster his squad during the January transfer window. His side has remained unbeaten in their last 5 Premier League fixtures since losing 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City. The Spaniard has identified Lille’s Renato Sanches as a leading target. The Gunners are currently 5th in the Premier league table with 20 points, 6 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
WILL ARSENAL CONTINUE THEIR SENSATIONAL FORM AFTER THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK?
Arsenal was under a lot of speculation because of the way they started the season. The Londoners lost their opening 3 matches in the Premier league raising questions about their new signings. The Gunners signed Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White during the summer transfer window which at first seemed like a bad decision. But Arteta’s side quickly turned things around as they haven’t lost a game since that 5-0 loss against City, back in August.
A recent report stated that Arsenal previously refused to pay £30m to secure the Portuguese’s services. However, according to Le 10 Sport, the Gunners retain a firm interest in the Lille man. The outlet adds that Lille would sanction a mid-season sale for a sufficient offer, but AC Milan is currently ahead of the Gunners in the race for Sanches. Arsenal would still try to lure Sanches.
The former Bayern Munich starlet is due to become a free agent in 2023 and has registered five goals and six assists in 67 games for the Ligue 1 champions. The Portuguese were an important player for Portugal during the Euro 2016 in France when they became the European Champions for the First time.
