Arsenal FC looking to Reinforce Squad in Winter Window

VITOR ROQUE

Arsenal FC feel they have a lack of depth and strength in the squad. They will be looking to reinforce the squad to add up strength.

Arsenal FC look up to January

Arsenal may be getting close to signing their first January signing at a reduced cost.

The Gunners’ season-long winning streak came to an abrupt halt against Newcastle United this past weekend, when Mikel Arteta’s team was defeated by a goal that required three VAR reviews. In lieu of Martin Odegaard, the Basque manager started Kai Havertz, with Declan Rice and Jorginho rounding out the midfield.

Granit Xhaka’s departure throughout the summer has made the middle of the pitch a source of tension for Arsenal throughout the season. It now seems as though Arteta will make his first transfer window acquisition to correct this imbalance.

Arthur Vermeeren

According to the Spanish publication Sport, Arthur Vermeeren is prepared to sign a contract for less than £15 million.

The report states that the Gunners are “closing in on a deal” for the teenager from Royal Antwerp, who has been attracting interest from both Barcelona and the north Londoners after an excellent ascent.
This season, Arsenal appears to be severely lacking in midfield due to the departures of Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, the loaning of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Charlie Patino, and Thomas Partey’s injury struggles.

Reinforcement

Declan Rice is the preferred number six. But he has also had to play at number eight because Jorginho has been substituting for him lately to aid in building up.

Vermeeren’s best position is as a No.8, but he can play as a No. 6. He may be deployed in place of Rice, along with Odegaard, Kai Havertz, or Fabio Vieira.
Arteta is said to also be in the market for a striker this winter.

Transfermarkt values Vermeeren to be worth €25m.
