Arsenal is reportedly weighing up a move for PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo as per the analyst Aad de Mos(via Sport Witness).

The Netherlands international has ranked through De Herdgang, the Dutch club’s academy, having joined the facility back in 2007. Meanwhile, the 23-years-old is enjoying an amazing campaign at the Philips Stadion this term, scoring 12 goals and notching up 13 assists in 26 Eredivisie appearances.

According to the report, Arsenal is showing a concrete interest in a potential summer move for PSV forward Cody Gakpo. However, the Gunners will have to face strong competition from the fellow Premier League giants, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

Following a productive campaign, the youngster has caught the attention of the European giants. However, the report also stated that the north London club is leading the race to sign the 23-years-old this summer.

Will Cody Gakpo be a good addition to the Arsenal squad?

Arsenal needs to strengthen the squad depth in the summer. And on top of that, they need strengthening in their attacking department. Apart from the first eleven, the Gunners lack numbers in their squad who will suit Mikel Arteta’s style of football.

So, with European qualification being sealed for the next season, the north London club will need to add numbers to their squad. Meanwhile, Arsenal has struggled with their forward issues throughout the season.

After offloading Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, Initially, Alexandre Lacazette did well. However, his lack of productivity in front of the goal has forced the Gunners’ boss to drop him from the starting eleven and give chances to Eddie Nketiah.

The youngster has done well in recent weeks. But, the Gunners need more firepower in their attacking department. So, signing Cody Gakpo could be a very good option for Mikel Arteta’s side. Meanwhile, the Dutchman can play multiple positions across the front line which will allow the Spanish boss to manage Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka’s game time.
