Arsenal linked with Dutch Star – Changes Expected at Liverpool too

Arsenal Team

Arsenal and Liverpool will be looking to reinforce their squad with quality players as they look to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season. The Gunners missed out on top stop this season, falling short by just 2 points behind Pep’s Manchester City. On the other hand Liverpool fell apart towards the end finishing third in the league table with 9 points short of Man City. Now as Pep Guardiola nears his final season at Etihad stadium, Man City would want to finish on a high. They would like to bid adieu to Pep with trophies in both England and Europe.

Arsenal and Liverpool Title Challenge

The gunners and Liverpool would be looking to give a tough challenge to city next season to spoil Pep’s farewell. Mikel Arteta’s side would be solid at the back and dynamic upfront and be consistent throughout the year to edge out Man City. Similarly Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot would want to keep playing at the high level as under Jurgen Klopp.

Arsenal to make Goalkeeping Decision

As the Gunners look to push for Permier league title, they need to make some tough goalkeeping decisions. Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation is a bit tricky currently with David Raya trying for a permanent move to Arsenal. The 29-year-old Spanish professional footballer joined Arsenal on a loan deal from Brentford. Raya secured the loan move to the Gunners in 2023 for a year. Arsenal paid £3 million to complete the loan deal, which has a purchase option of £27 million. The Spanish Goalkeeper had a great year between the sticks keeping the most clean sheets and winning the Golden Glove. With this performance it’s clear that the deal is likely to happen.

If Raya signs a permanent deal that would surely mean Aaron Ramsdale moves on to find first-team action elsewhere. HITC reported that Newcastle United are interested in Ramsdale and would offer a contract if he wants a move. Moreover, Arsenal would want to sign another goalkeeper as a backup to David Raya. The gunners have a few targets on the list.

Justin Bijlow on Arsenal and Liverpool

On Arsenal’s target list are young Dutch goalkeepers – Quinten Timber, Justin Bijlow. Justin Bijlow is one of the best goalkeepers in the Netherlands and had a great season despite an injury-hit season. He suffered from wrist and calf injuries which limited him to just 17 league starts this season. According to reports, Bijlow is linked with Arsenal for a potential move out of Feyenoord. If the deal fails to materialise Bijlow might join Feyenoord boss Arne Slot at Liverpool. The Dutch goalkeeper told Voetbalzone both clubs are huge and he is grateful to be in consideration at these clubs. Bijlow looks to secure a move to England and also wants to get a spot in Dutch squad for Euro 2024.

“Those are two very nice clubs. Of course it is always nice to be mentioned at big clubs. What I’m just saying: I’m ambitious. As long as I play for Feyenoord I will give everything and first I just want to focus on the Dutch team,”

– said Bijlow.

Conclusion

Moreover, joining Arne Slot at Liverpool could be a sensible move for Bijlow, as Slot knows everything about his game. Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher could leave this summer with Celtic interested. And thus Liverpool would need another goalkeeper to replace the Irish goalkeeper. Although Bijlow is ambitious and want to play for Netherlands national team, a move to either Liverpool or Arsenal would not help a lot as he would mostly be on bench with Allison and Raya as the first choice goalkeepers respectively.
