Arsenal Very Close to Signing Real Madrid Star Odegaard

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Arsenal are close to signing Real Madrid‘s out of favor Norwegian midfielder, Martin Odegaard, on loan in the upcoming days.

The Gunners are looking for a creative attacking midfielder since last summer after manager Mikel Arteta decided Mesut Ozil is not the man for him.

Real Madrid are only willing to let him leave on a simple loan deal until the end of the season. This means they believe Odegaard can be a star for them in the future. Even though Zinedine Zidane does not fancy him in his current side.

Odegaard was counted as a wunderkind when Los Blancos bought him in January 2015. The 17-year-old Norwegian kid was bought for just €2.8 million from Norwegian side Strømsgodset

WHY ARSENAL IS AFTER MARTIN ODEGAARD:

Martin Odegaard went to Real Sociedad on two years loan last season. He had an outstanding season with 7 goals and 9 assists in all competitions. And he was one of the best players in La Liga in the early stages of the season.

This kind of display from him attracted Real Madrid to recall him from his loan where they could not spend in the summer due to the pandemic.

But Odegaard could not find enough time to show in a Real Madrid shirt. He remains on the bench for most of the time which made him angry.

Odegaard has only played 374 minutes of football this season in all competitions and could not involve in any goal. Where he was the part of every match last season for Real Sociedad at this stage.

This was the reason why Odegaard wanted to go back to Real Sociedad at first but then Arsenal approached him for his service. Since then he decided to join Arsenal till the end of the season.

Now it is between the two clubs to find a solution to let Odegaard go and play football for Arsenal. And the reports are saying that the negotiations are at the advanced stages and he should be the Arsenal player at the end of the transfer window.
