About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

David Alaba reportedly rejected an offer from Liverpool to choose Real Madrid. This transfer saga revolving around David Alaba has been going on for months. And now it looks like it’s heading on its final road as Real Madrid have reportedly won the race to sign the 28-year-old Austrian.

Alaba has made over 265 appearances for Bayern Munich. And he has gone on to win 20 accolades with the club which has made him into a club legend.

The versatile defender has only 6 months remaining in his contract. And with there being no news about a contract extension, it seems like Alaba is heading for a potential exit. He doesn’t see himself being with the Bavarians next season.

DID LIVERPOOL SUBMIT A BETTER OFFER FOR ALABA?

According to SB Nation, Liverpool’s offer to sign Alaba outmatched Real Madrid’s offer for Alaba. Liverpool, who sit 4th in the Premier League, had made a more interesting offer compared to the other clubs who were ready to land the star.

The club felt that Alaba would be able to link up effectively with Virgil Van Djik and he would be a good backup option to Andy Robertson. Alaba’s versatility would have been a major boost to Liverpool as he can also be deployed as a midfielder.

Liverpool were ready to match the wage demands Alaba was making which is €230,000 per week. However, he chooses Real Madrid as his next destination.

A move to Real Madrid will be finalized in the coming weeks as the player and the club have reached a verbal agreement where he will sign with Madrid on a 4-year deal.

Liverpool on paper looked favorites to land the Austrian star. However, a move to Madrid will look to materialize as it was his dream to play for Real Madrid.
