Arsenal working to Extend Alexandre Lacazette’s Contract? The Premier League side is hopeful that Lacazette will Agree to a new Short-term contract to stay at the Club. However, the Frenchman has been on the radar for a lot of clubs as he is out of contract at the End of this season. Atletico Madrid and Manchester City have shown interest to sign the 30-year-old Forward.

Alexandre Lacazette was heading towards an exit from the Emirates Stadium due to less game time. However, the 30-year-old broke into the Arsenal Playing XI under Mikel Arteta this season. The Frenchman is back on being an important asset for the Gunners. Lacazette has featured for the club regularly this term has played a key role in Arsenal’s change of Fortunes.

As reported by the Athletic, Arsenal has not ruled the talks of the Frenchman extending his current contract. However, he won’t be given a Long-term Contract to stay but a short-term contract is said to be offered by the Club. The Gunners are currently 5th in the Premier League points table with 20 points. The Club has remained undefeated in their last 5 Premier League ties after a poor start to the season.

Arsenal does not want to be burdened with paying an experienced player a heavy salary and lengthy deal. Mesut Ozil and Shokdran Mustafi are examples. However, the 30-year-old has no shortage of Admirers as West Ham United, Newcastle United, Juventus and Manchester United are all interested. Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are also closely monitoring his situation.

The reports have added that Arsenal is mindful of up-and-coming players such as Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli. But, when it comes to a new contract for Lacazette they do not want to hinder their chances of signing a new Forward by offering a lengthy extension for the Frenchman.

Arsenal will face 4th placed Liverpool on matchday 12 of the Premier League. If the Gunners continue their impressive run of form, they will extend their unbeaten run to 6 matches. If they come out victorious against Liverpool, they will move a point ahead of the Merseyside and replace Jurgen Klopp’s side to take the 4th spot.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette’s record at Arsenal has been pretty decent with 68 Goals in 178 Appearances. He has been featured 6 times this season for the club and has scored just one goal. He was also a part of the Arsenal team that won their 14th FA Cup title in 2020.
