Atletico Madrid wants to bridge the gap between them and city rivals Real Madrid in an attempt to reclaim their La Liga title. However, the club has not been very proactive in the transfer market this summer. The club has not strengthened significantly except for the return of Alvaro Morata, while their opponents have strengthened considerably during the transfer window.
Barcelona has signed a number of players to close the gap. While Real Madrid has made important signings to fill the gaps in the squad. Atletico Madrid has benefitted from a returning Alvaro Morata during the pre-season. The Spanish international has been in fine form during the pre-season.
However, the club can still consider letting the player leave for Manchester United. Atletico Madrid are in dire need of cash and maintains a strong financial position. Manchester United is willing to take the striker on loan with an option or obligation to buy for around €35 million. Diego Simeone is keen to keep the Spanish international at Wanda Metropolitano. However, the club might be forced to sell him.
Alvaro Morata has made an instant impact at Atletico Madrid after returning from Juventus. The Old Lady wanted to extend the Spaniard’s loan deal or even potentially buy him. However, Atletico Madrid refused to negotiate in a hope of keeping their talisman. But financial pressure could force them to part ways with the attacker this summer.
Alvaro Morata is not new to the Premier League
Alvaro Morata has played in the Premier League from 2017 to 2019 and is not new to the league. The Spanish international signed for Chelsea from Real Madrid in 2017 for a huge fee. However, the striker failed to live up to the expectations attached to the price tag.
The Spaniard only scored 16 goals across two seasons in the Premier League for Chelsea. Manchester United is banking on the player’s recent form and wants to add him to the squad. However, in terms of Premier League football, the acquisition will be a gamble for the Red Devils.
Atletico Madrid is unwilling to negotiate with Juventus for a loan deal because the Rojiblancos do not want to share the wage burden of the player. Juventus will not be able to shoulder the entire wage burden of the striker. Whereas, Manchester United are in a stronger financial position and will be able to take on the high wage of Alvaro Morata entirely if the striker signs on a loan deal.
Nevertheless, the transfer link is an intriguing one as Alvaro Morata was linked with Manchester United before in 2017 but the Red Devils eventually opted for Romelu Lukaku. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils finally decide to sign the player and whether Atletico Madrid accepts the offer or not!!
