About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Last year at this stage, Manolo’s Hyderabad FC snuffed out Bagan’s hopes. The green-and-maroon were scheduled to play the same side in their third consecutive ISL semifinals encounter.

In an intriguingly contested encounter, ATK Mohun Bagan drew with hosts Hyderabad FC at the Gachibowli Stadium this time. Both goalkeepers shined to keep the game scoreless at the end. In the Indian Super League, this sets up another highly anticipated Salt Lake finale.

Nizams have the highest home attendance.

Current Premier League Standings

The first leg of the semifinals set a new attendance record for Hyderabad this season. Fans flocked from all across Hyderabad to cheer on their hometown team, some with drums, some with relatives, and some with binoculars.

In the first half, Hyderabad was the superior squad.

Hyderabad FC placed more pressure on the goal despite having only 43% possession in the first half. Nonetheless, ATK Mohun Bagan had the best chance of winning the game.

The three behind Javier Siverio, namely Chianese, Halicharan, and Yasir, backed him up as the #9. According to the usual strategy, Hali threw in crosses, Yasir dribbled inside, and Chianese found himself in scoring positions.

It was most likely the first time Juan Ferrando’s side played this aggressively all season.

Pritam missed from around a yard away.

In the 38th minute, a Petratos set-piece pass found Subhashish Bose, who squared it with his head, but Pritam Kotal, who was under pressure from Borja Herrera, struck the crossbar from about a yard away, leaving everyone stunned.

What appeared to be a tap-in opportunity went wherever but within. It could be considered a contender for miss-of-the-season.

Kaith’s redemption is over

After a great shift, Vishal Kaith(ATK Mohun Bagan) and Gurmeet Singh(Hyderabad FC) [ISL]

Vishal Kaith, who is becoming more stable with each game, has been an important component of ATK Mohun Bagan’s success thus far. Bozidar Bandovic benched him for 11 games last season at Chennaiyin, but he is now the Golden Gloves leader with Ferrando. Last season, he was an early contender for the golden gloves, but his spot on the squad faded.

Vishal Kaith got a chance to redeem himself after being signed by ATK Mohun Bagan. He improved with games, and here we are.

He saved a Chianese header early in the game. Halicharan Narzary sent a pinpoint cross from the left that met perfectly with the Aussie’s head. “It may be a game-winning save,” Phil Brown said in the commentary.

Ashish against Akash

This match features two of the top Indian full-backs going head to head. The feed was drawn in by their brief run along the touchline. The locals are probably thinking about a period not long ago when these two were crucial to the finalists’ triumph.

Slavko Damjanovic was named match hero for his mountain defence.
