Barcelona is been in the news for a while now for their financial woes, and it is no secret that the club needs to sell some of its players to balance the books. One of the players that they have been trying to offload for a while is Philippe Coutinho. However, the Brazilian has had a solid loan spell at Everton, and it seems that Barcelona is now confident of selling him.

Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool in January 2018 for a reported fee of £142 million. Which made him the third most expensive player in the world at that time. However, things have not gone according to plan for the midfielder since then. He struggled to adapt to the Barcelona style of play and failed to replicate the form that he showed at Liverpool.

As a result, Coutinho was loaned out to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019. He enjoyed a successful season with the German giants. He scored 11 goals and provided 9 assists in 38 appearances in all competitions, helping Bayern win the treble. However, the Bavarians decided not to make the move permanent, and Coutinho returned to Barcelona for the 2020/21 season.

Despite a promising start to the season, Coutinho’s form dipped, and he suffered a knee injury that kept him out of action for three months. He made just 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists. With Barcelona looking to reduce their wage bill and generate funds, they put Coutinho on the transfer list.

However, the Brazilian has been in excellent form since joining Everton on loan in the summer of 2021. He has scored six goals and provided three assists in 22 appearances in all competitions, helping the Toffees push for a top-four finish in the Premier League. Coutinho has looked more like the player that Barcelona signed from Liverpool. His performances have caught the attention of several clubs.
