About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Bayern Munich fans can breathe a sigh of relief as their midfield duo will be extending their contract. Leon Goretzka will follow the steps of Joshua Kimmich and renews his contract with Bayern.

The German champions have been uneasy in the past few weeks with the contract extension of their multiple players. This included the midfield pair of Kimmich and Goretzka. While it was reported that Kimmich has reached an agreement to renew his deal till 2026, things were not settled regarding Goretzka’s future with Bayern.

However, things finally seem to be turning around for the Rekordmeister. Sources close to the club is increasingly confident in reaching a deal with Goretzka. Bayern Munich will be announcing the contract renewal of both Goretzka and Kimmich in the coming days as per reports.

KIMMICH A FACTOR FOR GORETZKA BAYERN RENEWAL

Joshua Kimmich’s extension with the Bundesliga winners looks like the key factor in convincing his compatriot Goretzka to stay. Both of them have been partnering in the midfield of Bayern Munich and Germany in the recent seasons.

Bayern considers the renewal of the pair as the first priority. The situation of Goretzka was particularly stressful as the German only had one year left in his contract. This meant that the 26-year-old could even sign a pre-agreement with another club in the winter if the deal was not renewed.

The future of Goretzka with Bayern was very much at stake, with the German midfielder garnering interest from across Europe. Both Real Madrid and Manchester United are monitoring his contract situation. The new deal however would come as a disappointment for them.

For Bayern Munich, renewing the contract of its midfield pair was vital. The club lost David Alaba on a free transfer this summer, after failing to renew his contract. The attention will now turn to defender Niklas Sule and winger Kingsley Coman, whose contracts will end in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
