Belgium star Jeremy Doku seems to be out of reach for Bayern Munich this summer. The winger was earlier linked to a move to the German Champions.
However, according to the latest reports from the news outlet AZ, Doku could be priced away from Bayern. The Belgian is currently playing for the French team Stade Rennais, who wants to keep hold of him.
Doku has impressed with his national side in the Euro 2020 and has garnered interest from multiple clubs. Bayern Munich was one of the sides interested, but it looks like they will not be meeting the asking price for Doku.
NEW BELGIAN SENSATION
Jeremy Doku is an excellent winger who is known for his dribbling. He completed an impressive 3.7 dribbles per game in Ligue 1 last season. This puts him on top of the list, in a league comprising Mbappe and Neymar.
Doku is a right-winger who has featured 30 times for Stade Rennais in the Ligue 1. The 19-year-old scored 2 and assisted thrice for his club in the league. Still young, there is a huge potential for him to grow into one of the best players in Europe.
He showed this potential in the Euro 2020, where he appeared for a strong Belgium side. His pace and dribbling made him a very tough opponent to face. His ability is a reason why Stade Rennais are working hard to keep hold of him this summer.
BAYERN NOT READY TO PAY FOR DOKU
Bayern Munich is going through a transition. They have replaced their outgoing manager Hansi Flick with Julian Nagelsmann. There were other notable departures from Munich as David Alaba. Javi Martinez and Jerome Boateng all left for free transfers.
The club is also facing difficulty in tying down its players. Multiple contracts will expire in the coming year, as many major players are still yet to renew their contracts. This has also affected Bayern in the transfer market, alongside the financial impact of the pandemic.
Thus, with other priorities to reinforce like the right-back position this summer, Bayern are not ready to spend big on Doku. Though the teenager offers good long-term potential, the Bundesliga champions are not ready to spend the €26 million asking price for him. With Stade Rennais not ready to lower the price, expect the Belgian to remain in France for another season.
