Bayern Munich ridden with injuries and fans hope for a quick comeback

Italian goalkeeper

Bayern Munich has indeed faced a string of unfortunate injuries during the early part of the season. Thus, resulting in key players being in the sidelines for extended periods. Dayot Upamecano joined the list of Bayern players who are out of action for several weeks due to an injury. These injuries have undoubtedly presented challenges for the club in maintaining squad depth and performance.

Dayot Upamecano will be in the sidelines for four to five weeks. That is due to an injury he sustained in a match against Freiburg just before the international break. As a result, he was unable to participate in France’s international fixtures during the break. His anticipated return to action is likely to occur in late November. Despite this setback, there have been some positive developments on the injury front for Bayern Munich during the international break.

Matthijs de Ligt is making progress toward a return to action, as he began training with the first-team players during the international break. The Dutch defender had been in the sidelines since the 7-0 win against VfL Bochum. Although he was initially to make his return against Freiburg, he experienced lingering knee pain, which delayed his comeback. However, his participation in first-team training is an encouraging sign that he is getting closer to resuming competitive play.

Matthijs de Ligt will be ready and available to start in Bayern Munich’s upcoming match against Mainz. His return is timely for Bayern, particularly as they have lost Dayot Upamecano to injury for several weeks. The club will be relying on the fitness of de Ligt and Kim Min-jae as they are the only fit center-backs in the squad. Hence, Bayern will be hoping to avoid further injuries in that position in the coming weeks.

Bayern Munich expects Gnabry, Choupo-Moting and Kimmich to return early

Serge Gnabry has begun training with the first-team players who remained at Sabner Strasse during the international break. The German winger had sustained a forearm injury during the DFB Pokal game against Preussen Munster, which required surgery to address. Gnabry was seen training with a protective case on his hand, and it is expected that he will be fit to participate in the match against Mainz.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had been out from Cameroon’s squad for the international break due to a minor injury. However, the 34-year-old forward since recovered from this minor injury and was participating in first-team training on Tuesday, indicating that he is available for selection once again.

Joshua Kimmich was unable to represent Germany during the international break due to illness. It remains uncertain whether he will recover in time for the upcoming match against Mainz. On the other hand, Manuel Neuer is making significant progress toward a return to action after spending nine months on the sidelines. Neuer will be available to play against Mainz on Saturday. And he has been training with the first team during the international break. Thus, indicating his readiness for a comeback.
