Bengaluru FC 1-3 Mumbai City FC: Player Rating, Player of the Match

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Bengaluru FC endured their second defeat of the Indian Super League season, slumping 1-3 to Mumbai City FC. The defending champions brushed aside the Blues at the GME Athletic Stadium, Bambolin.

In the initial stages, Marco Pezzaiuoli’s side were off to one of their finest starts. However, that was short-lived as MCFC forward Igor Angulo stepped up to slot home a penalty.

Bengaluru did get their opportunity to score from a set-piece. Cleiton Silva was on the end of it to spectacularly net 20 minutes in. Another chance presented itself when they were awarded a penalty. Unfortunately, captain Sunil Chhetri shot wide and was unable to put his side ahead.

Post half-time was a completely different story. Mumbai City took the field with a renewed vigor. Things went from bad to worse for the Blues. Mourtada Fall (54′) and Ygor Catatau (85′) each scored add another victory.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Apuia was a key part of the Mumbai City FC midfield. He did well to continually ease off pressure from Bengaluru FC. The man from the NorthEast was a force to reckon with in the middle of the park alongside Jahouh. He registered 11 duels won of the 13 attempted. Apuia was immaculate while intercepting and tackling as well.
