Iman Basafa is officially a Bengaluru FC player. Iman has previously played for a couple of teams in the Azedegan League and the Persian Gulf Pro League. He has never played outside Iran and is very excited to the Men on Blue. Bengaluru FC have signed him on a season long deal as they look to bounce back from a rough season.
Mostly deployed as a defensive midfielder, Iman can play in many other positions across the midfield as well. Bengaluru FC have always had a very smooth midfield. The creativity and fluidity ensures the attack of continuous supply of chances throughout the game. Iman can impose himself into this team and be a key player next season.
Iman has been aa part of the U-17, U-19 and U-23 Iran squad. After initially struggling to find minutes in the League while playing for Esteghal and Esteghal Khusestan in the Pro League, he joined Farj Sepasi in the Azedegan League.
While the first season felt no different, things turned around in the following season as he scored 7 goals in 26 appearances. From there, he went on to play for Malavan, Aluminium Arak, Pars Jonoubi and Machine Sazi before making a move to the Indian Super League.

This transfer is Head Coach Marco Pezzaiuoli’s tenth signing of the transfer window. Pezzaiuoli believes in Iman’s potential and feels that the player will be an important addition to the squad. He feels that Iman’s experience, leadership and presence will make him a stand-out in the dressing room. Apart from this he does not shy away from a long shot and strikes well with his head.
Iman himself is very excited ahead of his first big challenge outside Iran. He is impressed with the mentality of the team and is looking forward to starting training and playing with his teammates. This deal may have the option to extend for a couple more years.
