Arsenal have finally got their chance to land the dubbed Mesut Ozil who once used to be a target for Jurgen Klopp. Borussia Dortmund have lowered the price for the German international, Julian Brandt, and Arsenal will be looking to make a move for him in the coming summer.
Julian Brandt has been named as the next Mesut Ozil because of the way he plays. The 24-year-old spent 5 years at Bayer Leverkusen before making his move to Borussia Dortmund.
He had a brilliant time at Bayer. In the 214 matches which he played, he scored an amazing 41 goals. The midfielder’s fine form attracted the youth-centric club to pursue him. He joined them in 2019 and has been a regular player since.
Borussia Dortmund are having a tough season in the Bundesliga as they are struggling to reach the top-4. They are currently 5th and 4 points adrift of 4th place. However, they have managed to keep a good run in the Champions League. They defeated Sevilla in the round of 16 to progress into the quarter-finals, where they will be facing Manchester City.
Arsenal interested in signing Dortmund’s Julian Brandt:
Arsenal played out an interesting match last night against West Ham in the Premier League. They were down by 3 goals and came back brilliantly to salvage a point from the game. It was the efforts from their midfield, especially Martin Odegaard that helped Arsenal make the comeback.
The Gunners have been linked with the German for some time now. They tried luring him in 2019, but the player decided to join The Black and Yellow. They tried again last summer as a replacement for departing Mesut Ozil, only for Dortmund to rule out the move. Arsenal settled for Odegaard who is currently on a loan spell from Real Madrid.
However, according to Bild, they have been granted another shot at landing the midfielder in the next transfer window. Dortmund have reduced the asking price of the player to £21 million.
They are said to be unconvinced by Brandt’s performance so far and are willing to sell him if a bid of their expected price is made. The player has only been able to score 3 goals this season, making it more difficult for Dortmund to be convinced.
The current revelation from Borussia Dortmund has kept Arsenal in a tangled situation. They will be wanting to sign the 24-year-old, but the situation has changed a lot since their last interest. Arsenal had to settle for Odegaard who has performed considerably well since he moved to the Emirates.
His performance has convinced the Arsenal board to make the move a permanent one. Although it is not known how much Real Madrid will be asking. That brings Brandt’s stance to a standstill. A price of £21 million for a talented player is a great deal, but the Norwegian would be their priority ahead of the German.
