Borussia Dortmund to raid Chelsea for this attacking duo

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly preparing a bid for two of Chelsea’s forgotten superstars. The pair of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham is said to be sold this summer, after failing to impress manager Thomas Tuchel.

Jadon Sancho is increasingly reported for a move away and hence Dortmund needs to plan for a possible replacement. Hudson-Odoi could be a good choice. Chelsea could use the money from his sale to help their boss Tuchel in the upcoming transfer market.

As for Tammy Abraham, his position in the Chelsea team is very much in doubt. While he was a regular under previous manager Frank Lampard, he has barely featured for Tuchel. Thus the player would also want a move away from the club for more playing time.

CHELSEA PAIR THE IDEAL DORTMUND PICK?

Chelsea has shown interest in the Dortmund pair of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland. The club wants to further strengthen their attack and manager Tuchel eyes them as perfect options. But for the moves to happen the club needs to first free up space in their squad.

Hudson Odoi is a left-winger who could play in the right-wing as well. He was used in a left-wing back role by Tuchel this season, showing his versatility. He is also 20 and offers scope for development. But, the English winger has not played consistently in his career. Considering the fact that he has to replace Sancho, Dortmund could go for someone more proven.

Tammy Abraham on the other hand does have played consistently in his career. Having played only around 1500minutes for Chelsea in all competition this season, he has scored 12 goals. He is a good finisher of the ball and is strong aerially. But, Dortmund has said that Haaland will not be sold this summer. This could deter Abraham to consider the move as minutes on the pitch could be limited.

POSSIBLE ROADBLOCKS

Chelsea are desperate to sell their fringe players to fund new moves. Reports have confirmed that Tuchel will be supported in the transfer market this summer. The German’s priority is said to a striker, with Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, and Haaland his ideal targets, meaning Abraham could feature even less.

Moving but Hudson-Odoi and Abraham to Dortmund looks like a good option. The pair can be the replacement for Sancho and Haaland. Putting the players could sweeten any deals and give Chelsea an advantage. While Dortmund has admitted that Sancho will be allowed to leave, Haaland won’t be sold this summer.

However, the major issue in signing the pair from Chelsea could be their wage. The Black and Yellows are not ready to pay huge sums for them and would even look for a loan move. Both Chelsea and Dortmund do have prior experience working with each other and could be vital for any moves happening.

From the player’s point of view, the move could be a good one. Players like Sancho and Jude Bellingham have moved from England to Dortmund and have flourished. Hence the move to Signal Iduna Park could be the ideal one to relaunch their career. Premier League clubs like West Ham and Tottenham are also keeping an eye on the Chelsea pair.
