Chelsea manager talks about Enzo, Lavia before match against Wolves

Graham Potter

Enzo Fernandez spoke after Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that the midfielder will be unavailable for Chelsea match against Wolves on Christmas Eve. The 22-year-old appeared visibly upset following the Blues’ victory over Newcastle United. That is in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, after going to the reserve in the first half.

After being substituted shortly after the half-hour mark in the match against Newcastle United, Armando Broja replaced Enzo Fernandez, who was visibly upset. Mauricio Pochettino initially attributed Fernandez’s situation to illness on the night. But it has now been revealed that the Chelsea midfielder is nursing a hernia.

Chelsea manager said:

“Enzo is going to be out of the game against Wolverhampton. We are going to see if he can be involved again as soon as possible.”

“You already have the information that it was a hernia and he also didn’t feel well. We are going to give treatment with the doctor. For me, it is not going to be a problem I think he is going to be as soon as possible again with the group.”

After the confirmation of his injury, Enzo Fernandez posted a message on Instagram. He shared a black and white image of himself on his Instagram story with the caption: “[Half-full hour glass emoji] [‘Soon’ emoji].”

What did Chelsea manager say about Romeo Lavia?

Chelsea manager Pochettino also talked about Lavia:

“You guys are pushing with the players who are not playing. Lavia is in a similar position to [Christopher] Nkunku, you know? He arrived and never can make his debut.”

“After nearly six months, maybe he will be with the team. He is doing well but he still needs time to get his best form. He’s desperate to make his debut and he’s pushing. But I want to make clear, with the players with a big period off, you know, out of the competition, they are desperate to be present.”
