Roman Abramovich is confident that his club can secure the signature of Erling Haaland. The Chelsea owner is ready to spend big to help his club in signing the Norwegian.

According to Daily Express, Abramovich is confident in bringing Haaland to Chelsea this summer. The Russian billionaire is ready to stretch his club’s budget this season to pull off this impressive transfer.

Chelsea are fresh from their Champions League victory and Abramovich is ready to back manager Thomas Tuchel in the summer transfer window. The club have identified the striker role as a priority and wants Haaland to fill in the role.

THE NORWEGIAN SUPER STRIKER

Erling Haaland is one of the most sought-after footballers on the planet. the Norwegian is an excellent centre-forward and scores goals for fun. This has attracted interest from all the top clubs in Europe.

The 20-year-old who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund has been prolific in front of goal. He has scored a ridiculous 41 goals in this season for his club in all competitions. Haaland has scored 57 goals already for Dortmund in 59 appearances for them.

Haaland was also the top scorer in the UEFA Champions League, scoring 10 goals in the 2020/21 campaign. He was also the fastest player to reach 20 goals in the Champions League as he keeps scoring at the big stage. His impressive pace and clinical finishing have elevated his position as one of the deadliest strikers in the world.

ABRAMOVICH TO SPEND BIG FOR HAALAND

Chelsea have won the Champions League title after beating Manchester City in the final. They did so after sacking their manager Frank Lampard to bring in Thomas Tuchel midseason. Club owner Abramovich is ready to back Tuchel in the summer transfer window.

The biggest position the club is looking to fill in is the centre-forward role. The current options include Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud, and Timo Werner. Timo Werner had a disappointing debut season at Chelsea and looks better in a wider role. Giroud is 34 and is inching towards a move away from Stamford Bridge. As for Abraham, Tuchel does not seem to have him in the plans and could be sold this summer.

While signing Haaland can fix the centre-forward issue, it won’t be easy. Dortmund are not in a hurry to sell the player and would like to keep hold of him. Haaland has a £75m release clause activating next season but would see other clubs looking to cash in on it. Thus if Chelsea wants to bring in him, they could push Dortmund into selling the Norwegian this season for a very high fee.

There are also reports that Chelsea could use Tammy Abraham in a player-plus money deal for Haaland. This will help both the parties, but whether Dortmund wants such a deal is not sure. However, Abramovich seems confident that he can bring Haaland to Chelsea this summer. With his resources and will, one cannot deny the possibility of the move happening.
