Chelsea ‘ready to do crazy things’ to sign star winger

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

In the recent weeks, there have been many claims from the English press that Chelsea are looking to sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. This has also been discussed by Calciomercato.it, who have provided their own information on this case.

It’s claimed Chelsea have identified the winger as the transfer target and are ‘ready to do crazy things’ to secure his services next summer.

Kvaradona was an instant success at Napoli

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was a rather unknown name when Napoli signed him for a reported fee of €11 million. He had big shoes to fill as he was signed to replace departing club captain Lorenzo Insigne. But the 22-year-old surprised everyone with his performances, maybe even those who signed him in the first place. His playing style was compared to club legend Diego Maradona, earning him the nickname Kvaradona.

He had 31 goal involvements in 43 appearances last season. This season he already has 9 in 16 even despite Napoli not playing as well as last campaign where they won the Serie A.

Chelsea are in the ‘front row’ to sign Kvaratskhelia

The 22-year-old is on the agenda of clubs in England and Spain. The report states Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis could find it difficult to retain him beyond this season.

Calciomercato.it mention Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid to be in the race to sign Kvaratskhelia. The outfit further state that the Blues are in the ‘front row to reach an agreement with Napoli’ for the winger. They add that the Serie A side would listen to proposals for him, as they long as they exceed €100m.

This would suggest Chelsea could be ready to invest big to agree a deal with Napoli for the attacker. However, the report makes no mention of whether the Georgian favours a move to the Stamford Bridge.
