Chelsea have been linked with a move for Victor Osimhen for weeks now. A report from Football Transfers claims that Chelsea are prepared to pay whatever it takes to sign the 24-year-old.
Osimhen has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world. He helped Napoli win the league title last season. The Nigerian international scored 31 goals across all competitions in the title winning season.
Striker has been the problem area for Chelsea
Chelsea have struggled to score goals throughout the season. Nicolas Jackson hasn’t done much apart from the hat-trick against Tottenham, and that too came when Tottenham were 2 men down.
Chelsea fans are hoping Christopher Nkunku to return soon and solve their problem of goals, but let’s be honest, he is not the answer. There is no doubt that Nkunku is a quality player, but he is not an out-an-out goalscorer. He is more of a creator, a number 10 and prefers to play with a striker ahead of him.
Victor Osimhen is exactly what Chelsea need
Victor Osimhen could prove to be a sensational acquisition for Chelsea. The Blues have struggled to score goals consistently and Osimhen could certainly solve their problems. He has already proven his quality in the Italian league.
The striker has a contract with Napoli until the summer of 2025. The Italian club are hoping to tie him down to a new deal, however, an agreement is yet to be reached. It remains to be seen whether Osimhen is ready to pursue a different challenge at this stage of his career.
The opportunity to play for Chelsea could be an attractive option for the 24-year-old. The Blues are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they have the resources to compete for major trophies on a consistent basis. Osimhen would certainly transform them in the final third and maybe turn them into genuine contenders.
