The French champions have only Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos among the quality defenders. However, the departure of Thiago Silva to Chelsea has been a big blow for the Parisians.
Lack of quality playing Time for Rudiger at Chelsea
Rudiger has just played one match in the Premier League this season. Manager Frank Lampard has now a preferred centre-back pair of Kurt Zouma and ex-PSG legend Thiago Silva at Stamford Bridge.
But, he has provided Chelsea four clean sheets out of five matches he played for the Blues this season.
In the match against Newcastle United, Lampard spoke about his five centre backs in the squad.
“I talked before the game about having five centre backs a lot of managers would say I’d love five centre backs but it brings difficulties because you can only pick two if you are playing a back four.”
“They have to have good attitude through the week, good attitude in how they prepare and I’ve got confidence in Toni.”
– Frank Lampard
