Chelsea star Rudiger the new target for Bayern Munich

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Bayern Munich is reported to be interested in bringing in Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger in the next summer. The defender is yet to renew his contract and hence Chelsea will be forced to let him go.

According to Goal, Bayern is already in contact with Rudiger’s agent, who is also his brother, Sahr Senesie. However, everything is in its initial stage. Chelsea are also not ready to let him go and is working on a contract extension with Rudiger.

Rudiger has been one of the main parts of the Chelsea side that won the Champions League last season. Bayern are not the only side interested in bringing the German, as PSG and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation.

BAYERN TO REPLACE SULE WITH RUDIGER

Bayern Munich could soon be in the market to strengthen their defence as they are having contract issues of their own. Niklas Sule also has his contract ending in 2022, and Bayern is not able to make progress in the renewal. Thus Bayern could turn to Rudiger as a replacement for Sule.

Rudiger had a renaissance in the Chelsea defence after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. From a forgotten figure, Rudiger turned into the central figure of the Chelsea backline. This confidence shown in the German was rewarded by him by helping the Blues win the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.

The 28-year-old was a part of the Dortmund academy but made his Bundesliga debut with VfB Stuttgart. Rudiger later moved to Italy to join Serie A side AS Roma from where he was signed by Chelsea in 2017. He also has made 47 appearances for the German national side, scoring 2 goals for his country.

It is still to be seen where Rudiger will be playing the next summer. Chelsea are trying their best to avoid losing the German and could meet his demands. Even if Rudiger decides to leave, Bayern will face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid and PSG.
