Chelsea still believe in 19-year-old has a bright futute despite a terrible season

According to journalist Dean Jones, Chelsea still believe in youngster Andrey Santos despite him having a terrible season. The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest but has only made one Premier League appearance for them.

Chelsea still believe in Andrey Santos

Santos has clearly not been able to win over Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cook. According to Jones, Chelsea is frustrated with the gametime the midfielder is getting, but still believe in him. He told GiveMeSport, on Santos: “The club are very frustrated because they had good word from Forest about the game time he would get, but sometimes this happens. Nothing in football is guaranteed.

“Now I am told they will work on a new plan for him and that is likely to mean another loan. I think we’ll probably see him move abroad in January. But this is still a player Chelsea are working closely with because they do believe he has a big future in the game if he can just level-up his experience.”

Does Santos have a big future in the game?

Andrey Santos is only 19 years of age but has already won a senior international cap for Brazil. That is enough to tell us that there is definitely some talent there.

The midfielder was surely heading on the right path in his career, and the loan spell at Forest is just a setback. Again, Santos is still very young and he can afford one or two failed loan spells. If he can eventually find the right club to develop at for a year before returning to Chelsea, then perhaps the Brazil international will go on to accomplish much in the game.

However, Chelsea have to sort out this mess with Nottingham Forest as soon as possible. This season doesn’t have to be a complete waste. Santos can still salvage something from this season. The Blues should find a new club for Andrey Santos where he can get some minutes under his belt. It is almost January, so perhaps it is something that the Blues are already working on.
