Chelsea to let go off Malang Sarr in the upcoming transfer window

Malang Sarr is reportedly preparing to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. The 24-year-old defender has not seen any playing time for the Blues in any competition this season. Thus, raising uncertainty about his future at Stamford Bridge.

In an effort to secure more playing time, the defender has decided to pursue a move to a new club this winter. With both loan and permanent options on the table.

There is reported interest from Turkish clubs in the center-back. And Chelsea would reportedly be willing to let him go if suitable terms can be reached. Since joining on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 after the expiration of his contract with Ligue 1 outfit Nice, Sarr has made just 21 appearances for the London club.

Malang Sarr has been loaned out twice during his time at Chelsea, spending time at Porto and Monaco. However, he was never more than a squad player at either of these clubs.

Malang Sarr will like to move out of Chelsea to get more playing time

Malang Sarr gained fame for his time at Nice. There he made 119 appearances across four seasons in the first team, contributing three goals and three assists. During his loan spell at Monaco last season, the defender underwent surgery in May. Hence he did not play in the French side’s last 10 league fixtures.

During his first full campaign at Chelsea in the 2021-22 season, Malang Sarr saw limited usage in the Premier League, making just eight appearances. However, he was a regular participant in both league cups. Now, he will like to depart for a club which can promise him regular playtime.

As of now, Chelsea occupies the 10th position in the Premier League table following their 2-0 victory against Sheffield United. Their next fixture is an away match against Wolves on Sunday, December 24th.
