Dip Majumder impressing the I-League scouts in Durand Cup

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Dip Majumder did not have a great impact to Army Green’s Durand Cup campaign but has surely done his work. Impressive performances in crucial moments in games have given scouts a player to keep an eye. The 20-year-old will be looking forward for a professional contract after his time with Army Green.

Army Green started their campaign with a 2-0 loss to FC Goa. Dip made a cameo appearance and immediately had an impact. His clever movement and ingenious play with the ball gave Army Green the spark they lacked. The brief spell on the pitch earned him a place in the starting line-up for the next game against Jamshedpur.

The change yielded results as Army Green secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over the Miners. Dip created 2 of those goals being a level above everyone else in the final third of the pitch. His intelligent movement, passes and control meant that Jamshedpur stepped on a bomb in the mine.

He started on the bench against Sudeva Delhi in the final league game of their Durand Cup campaign. With the game creeping into an irritating stalemate, the wild card was produced. Dip walked into the pitch and then past a couple of defenders before laying the goal on a plate for Deepak Singh to secure the win.

In the quarter-final fixture against heavyweights Bengaluru FC, Army Green knew that Dip had to start. A collective effort by the team gave them a shocking lead. Bengaluru however clawed back scoring 3 goals. Dip created many chances but Bengaluru’s defence was a hard shell to crack.

Dip Majumder has to improve to play at the highest level

Dip is a No.10 and has the IQ to reach heights. He must improve on his physicality to assert himself into the team. This could be the reason he did not start despite being impactful while coming on. And while he creates a load of chances he has to improve on his finishing.

His potential is undeniable and a move to a bigger club will surely benefit the youngster. The ISL will a move too quick and thus the I-League will be a better division to start off with.
