DURAND CUP

The 132nd edition of the Durand Cup, the oldest football competition in Asia, will take place from August 3 to September 3.

The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) winners, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, will play Bangladesh Army FT in the tournament’s inaugural match on August 3. Three cities—Kokrahar, Guwahati, and Kolkata—will host the competition.

The Durand Cup thus will include 24 teams for the first time in its history, which will be split up into six groups of four teams each. This edition moreover will include 19 Indian clubs and five teams from the military forces of India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. This will however be the first time in 27 years that a foreign team will compete in the event.

The six group winners as well as the top two runner-up teams proceed to the elimination round. Bengaluru FC is the current champion after defeating Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the Durand Cup 2022 championship game.
