East Bengal tastes their 2nd victory on the trot in the CFL

East Bengal has found momentum in the ongoing Calcutta Football League (CFL). With two consecutive wins and a draw, The Red and Gold Brigade is now at the top of Group B. The 39-time CFL champions won their last game against Kidderpore Sporting Club with Tuhin and Beshra’s superb strikes.

East Bengal defeated Kidderpore by 2-0 in a Calcutta Football League match:

After WB Ploice, it is Kidderpore Sporting Club. East Bengal has been brilliant throughout the CFL match. In Naihati Stadium, the Bangal Brigade has witnessed some glimpse of old East Bengal.

East Bengal controlled the entire game. From the very first minute, Kidderpore’s defense looked shaky in front of the flawless East Bengal attack. Though East Bengal has missed plenty of chances, otherwise the scoreboard would be different.

Though East Bengal found their first goal in the 32nd minute, they could not score the assurance goal. Throughout the 90 minutes, the players had many good chances to double their lead but could not capitalize on them.

East Bengal totally dominated the first half. But, in the second half, Kidderpore came into the game when East Bengal substituted their striker Avishek Kunjam with Md. Niyas.

This time, Kidderpore built up some quality attacks but could not be lethal. More of the EB supporters were anxious, as they thought this game would end in a draw, like it happened last year. But East Bengal found their winning goal in the 92nd minute, which settled the match.

Two magnificent strikes lead to two goals:

Though the Red and Gold Brigade had more dominance in the game, the goals did not come in the first quarter. But in the 32nd minute, EB found the net with a fantastic strike by Tuhin Das.

Tuhin, the Bengalee defender, snatched the ball at the centre of the park. From there, he made a long sprint, surpassing opponent defenders with his magical feet, and scored an excellent goal from the top of the box.

With Shyamal Besra’s fabulous left-footed strike in the 92nd minute, EB sealed the game. Tanmay Das’s curling corner was fisted by Kiddepore goalkeeper Priyant, and Besra sailed the second ball into the net.

Analyzing the CFL game, let’s find out the points that allowed East Bengal to get all three points:

Creative Midfield with Phenomenal Souvik and Lively Kush:

East Bengal has included senior team midfielder Souvik Chakrabarti, which has helped them build a sustainable midfield alongside him. Souvik, the man of the match, was the main foundation behind the victory. His passing, creativity, and experience helped the team fruitfully.

Besides Souvik, young Kush Chherty was brilliant throughout the match. Lively Kush’s aggressiveness, ball control, and effectiveness made EB’s attack look so lethal.

Compact Defense with Mandi and Gursimrat:

Captain Subhendu Mandi has been solid since the first match. His presence in the defensive third suffered the opponents strikers a lot. His pair with ISL experienced Gursimrat Singh Gill outwitted Kidderpore’s attack every time throughout the game.

Running flanks with Tuhin and Rakip:

Another two senior team footballers, Tuhin Das and Md. Rakip, were busy through the flanks. Their overlapping through crosses and defensive awareness interrupted Kidderpore’s style of play.
