Eintracht Frankfurt interested in Turkish star Cengiz Under

FINANCIAL FAIR PLAY

Eintracht Frankfurt are linked with a move for Turkish attacker Cengiz Under. The Roma player had a forgettable season on loan at Premier League side Leicester City.

The news was reported by the Italian outlet Calciomercato. AS Roma are looking to offload Under and he will be available for Frankfurt for close to £10 million this summer.

Under had a poor season with Leicester as he struggled to cement his position in the squad. This meant that Leicester will not be looking to extend his stay, something Frankfurt can capitalize on.

NOT REACHING HIS POTENTIAL

The Turkey international had a bad season with Leicester City. On loan with the Foxes, Under managed less than 1000 minutes in all competition. He appeared 19 times for them in all competitions and was predominantly used in the Europa League.

In his 19 appearances, he only managed to score 2 goals while setting up 3 assists for his teammates. However, this was not new. In the 2019/20 season, Under featured only 18 times for his parent club AS Roma in the Serie A.

This was mainly due to the injuries that he suffered. The winger missed multiple matches due to muscle injury and was not able to regain his earlier output. Roma is thus looking to cut their losses and move on.

FRANKFURT CAN LAND UNDER FOR CHEAP

This opens the door for Frankfurt, who are looking to improve their squad. They finished fifth in the Bundesliga last season and missed out on the Champions League.

By bringing in someone like Under, Frankfurt will be looking to add depth to their attack. Playing in the right-wing, Under is good at dribbling. He likes to cut inside his opponents and take long shots. Under has scored 9 times for his nation from just 32 appearances, but was knocked out of the group stage in Euro 2020.

Frankfurt can get under for around £10 million this summer and it will be a good business if they can help him achieve to unravel his abilities. Still only 23, he will also offer a long-term value.
