Exclusive: Slavko Damjanovic signs for Jamshedpur FC

Slavko Damjanovic

Jamshedpur FC has secured the signing of Slavko Damjanovic. A source close to the development confirmed he has signed a one-year deal with the club. It will be announced very soon by the club.

About Slavko Damjanovic

Slavko Damjanovic is one of the most influential players of ISL. He played for the likes of Bidvest Wits, FC Backa, Loko Tashkent, Spartak, and many other top-division clubs in Europe. Slavko came to India in 2021, when he signed for Chennaiyin FC where he played 19 matches for them in the 2021-22 season.

The former South African Cup winner had offers from other ISL clubs too. But he was much interested in an European deal and signed for Novi Pazar in Serbian Super League where he played 5 matches for them. He won Montenegran Championship and Montenegran Cup while playing for FK Sutjeska Niksic and Buducnost Podgorica respectively.

Though primarily a centre-back, Slavko can also play as a right back and left back. His great physical presence can be an added advantage to the Red Miners.

Jamshedpur FC in ISL

Jamshedpur FC is currently having a very poor season and are in a transitional period under Aidy Boothroyd. Slavko will be the second Chennaiyin FC player to join JFC after Rafael Crivellero. They are currently at the 10th position with only 4 points from 9 matches. Injury problems of foreign contingents have added to their woes. The performance of Daniel Chima Chukwu have also raised eyebrows in recent times.

Jamshedpur FC lost Peter Hartley due to injury for rest of the season. Now it will be interesting to see how Slavko replaces Hartley into the JFC squad. Jamshedpur FC will next face Bengaluru FC on 17th December in an away match. If such an off form continues, then JFC management can soon become impatient with Aidy Boothroyd as their coach.
