We are now approaching the part of the football season when transfer expert Fabrizio Romano will have sleepless nights. He will be delivering ‘done deal’ and famous ‘here we go’ news pretty much every day when the transfer window opens. And Fabrizio has already delivered a ‘done deal’ news that involves Chelsea this weekend.
However, this is not a new signing or a player being sold. But it is certainly a man relating to that part of the club. That is because Chelsea have just made a new big hire within their recruitment department.
Green light for former Brighton man
Fabrizio Romano reports that the green light has just arrived for former Brighton Head of Recruitment Sam Jewell to start his new job at Chelsea. Jewell was on gardening leave but it’s now all been agreed for him to start work for summer window. He’ll have senior role as part of multi-club project to select new players. Chelsea want to buy more clubs, and Jewell will be concentrating on that part of the business as well.
It looks to be a decent hire for the Blues. Jewell has earned himself a good name within football recruitment over time.
Jewell will certainly keep Fabrizio busy with his work for Chelsea and other clubs under BlueCo
Chelsea are expected to be busy once again in the summer transfer window, after another underwhelming season. Jewell will be helping out at Chelsea until the multi-club model gets going. At the moment, they just have Strasbourg, but surely we will soon be hearing about more clubs joining the model under BlueCo – the name under which Chelsea’s owners will buy other clubs.
It’s a successful model already used by the likes of Manchester City‘s owners with City group, and also the Red Bull Group who have Leipzig and Salzburg. Both have been real success stories so far.
