Georginio Wijnaldum has reportedly decided to leave Liverpool on a free transfer. The Liverpool Midfielder has been making headlines due to the breakdown of contract negotiations.
Consequently, reports suggest that Wijnaldum will snub Liverpool’s last-ditch efforts to keep him at the club.
WHAT IS WIJNALDUM’ DREAM MOVE AWAY FROM LIVERPOOL?
Gini Wijnaldum has decided to leave Liverpool and join Barcelona. Liverpool had prepared for Wijnaldum’ exit by bringing in Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich this summer.
Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool to retain Wijnaldum at all costs, the German coach seeing him as a pivotal part of his team. Klopp led Liverpool to the Premier League title last season and the Champions League the year before, with Wijnaldum integral to both triumphs.
The Dutch midfielder’s contract with the English champions is due to expire this June 30th. Koeman is a huge fan of Wijnaldum having worked with him while in charge of the Netherlands and is keen to reunite with the midfielder in Catalonia.
The Dutchman has again been a key player for The Reds this season despite the speculation surrounding his future, making 25 appearances in all competitions, he has not missed a single Premier League game in 2020-21.
Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed to lose such a consistently impressive midfielder. Speaking about Wijnaldum’s contract debacle, the German coach had ‘nothing to say’, but confessed his admiration for the Liverpool star.
“I have nothing to say about this, I’ve said how much I like the person and the player. So, there’s really nothing else to say about it. That’s not good or bad news, that’s just how it is. If there’s a decision you’ll know about it.

Wijnaldum has written himself into Anfield folklore with what he has done for the club over the past four seasons. But if the prospect of moving to one of Europe’s other big clubs comes along, you can’t blame him if that’s an opportunity he decides to take.
