Goa Pro League 2021-22 to Commence from 2nd of October

Goa Pro League will commence from 2nd of October according to the statement of Goa Football Association. Certainly this decision is taken unanimously at the Exicutive Committee meeting held at 12th August.

Most Importantly the country’s longest played tournament will takes place in its oldest format. Moreover at the First Phase all 12 teams will play against each other. And then the completion will divide into two groups.

At last the top six teams will play in the Super League, while the bottom six teams will be part of the relegation league. However for deciding Champion and Relegation process the points gained in first phase may considered.

At the same time Vaccination Certificate is important for the players Participating in the Goa Pro League.

“We all know the current situation, but we cannot keep the football away as many players rely on it. So, we have decided to start the football season in the state from mid-September. But, Vaccination Certificate will be compulsory for a player playing in the league.” – Said a Committee Member.

However Selvel will be the title sponsor despite failing to pay the dues in the first season.

“As per our president, he had another sponsor this season, who were ready to pay 80% in advance. But, Selvel promised to pay the outstanding dues as well as for this season.” – added by the committee member.

Charity Match at the beginning of Goa Pro League

Further a Charity match is planned at the beginning. Where Sporting Clube de Goa the current Champions will Play against the runners-up Dempo Sports Club. This Match is planned at 13th of September. In addition, the Goa Police Cup is also planned to commence from the 21st of September.

“The Goa Police Cup will be held this season, as GFA has given us a slot to organize this tournament. It is a pride of Goa Police to organize such a prestigious tournament.” – Said Anthony Monserrate.

Certainly, due to Global Pandemic the GFA First Division League was postponed last season. However this season the State Association has also decided to organize the GFA First Division League. Moreover, it will start on the 1st of January 2022. At the same time, TACA Goa U-20 League is looking to make a comeback after three years.
