Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has spoken about the future of their midfielder Jonas Hofmann. According to an interview with Bild, he has told that Hofmann will be staying with Gladbach this summer.
Hofmann was linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the transfer window. However, the comment from Gladbach sporting director will help in ending any speculation about a possible move.
With transfer windowing shutting down in a day, rumours and transfers are happening at a higher pace. But as for now, Hofmann will not be moving to Bayern and will remain as a Gladbach player.
GLADBACH HAVE NO BAYERN OFFER FOR HOFMANN
“There is no transfer. I assume and am very convinced that Jonas will stay with us. At least until summer 2022.” – commented Eberl.
According to Eberl, there was never any solid offer for Hofmann from Bayern. Finally, Eberl went ahead to confirm that the club will not be having any incomings or outgoings at the moment and that everyone at Gladbach is happy with the squad.
Bayern Munich are in the market to strengthen their squad. With the ability to play in multiple positions, Hofmann has been a key target for the Bundesliga Champions. However, the latest interview meant that Hofmann will most probably remain a Gladbach player this season.
As a result, Rekordmeister have shifted their focus to RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer. Reports have since emerged that the deal will be completed before the end of the transfer deadline.
Gladbach had a poor start to their new campaign, with just 1 point collected from 3 matches. With Hofmann almost sure to stay for another season, the club will have to focus on turning their results around after the international break.
